Whilst I’m away I like to challenge myself and started taking up new exhilarating sports which I’d never usually try.
I’m not sure why I first became interested in trying something new but it has really helped me to step out of my comfort zone and has become a real highlight of my trips away.
From surfing to jumping out of planes, I have had some incredible adventure experiences and if you have the opportunity I urge you to also try something new and challenge yourself.
Below I’ve highlighted some of my favourite activities over the years in the hope that this may inspire you too.

Surfing on the Gold Coast
When I was 10 years old my family went on holiday to Cornwall and that’s when I first got a taste of the sea. I was initially only using a paddleboard but I loved the thrill of it all.
When I found out I was heading to Australia, I made a promise I would go surfing and specifically booked a surfer’s hostel in the hope of meeting someone who would teach me.
It’s such a thrilling sport and something you have to be determined to do, I had many falls and lots of embarrassing moments but it’s so much fun and I’d urge everyone to get out on the waves at Bondi.
Trekking Through the Amazon
You will have never seen sights like you do in the Amazon.
Although not usually considered an action-filled activity, don’t take hiking in this terrain for granted. It’s harder work than you can imagine and without the right guidance can be particularly dangerous.
Always do your research on the best tour guides and don’t forget your camera.
Skydiving
I have to admit I’ve become a bit of a skydiving junkie, always checking out if there is anywhere I can do it in each country I visit.
I first went skydiving in Dubai and seeing the Palm from above was nothing short of breath-taking. The rush of adrenaline is remarkable and is definitely something you either love or hate but it’s worth doing.
Paragliding
I recently went paragliding in India and it was my first ever experience.
I love the rush of skydiving so thought this would be similar but without the madness of travelling at such speed. Paragliding is a fantastic way to see the world from above and being able to take it all in.
The best destination in India is Kunjapuri in Uttarakhand where you’ll get perfect climate, the best views and the nicest instructors.
So there you have some of my favourite adventure travel activities, how do you get your adrenaline rush when travelling? Let me know by getting in touch today.
