Tokyo Japan’s Multidimensional Wonderland

September 12th, 2018 by Dave 1 Comment

There are few places on earth that can match the vibes of the beautiful city of Tokyo. While it is densely populated with millions of inhabitants and millions or more tourists coming in each day, the city manages to hide some of the rarest, oldest and most beautiful gems of Japanese tradition in its heart. We have been to Tokyo thrice now and every time we find something new to explore and experience here.

There are several casual restaurants lining the streets of Tokyo that serve you delicious food. The rice, noodles and sea food dishes are overwhelmingly good and take over your taste buds completely. When you go back home, the aftertaste of the amazing food you eat here remains on your tongue. The magical sushi of this place is unlike anything we have ever tasted around the world. To put it simply, Sushi is a Japanese mainstay and even humble restaurants here make more delicious sushi than the best diners in the world.

We always go to Central Tokyo fist because the Imperial Palace is a one-of-a-kind destination to visit. This is the spiritual and geographic heart of the city as well. The gardens here are so spectacular, that you can spend hours simply looking at their beauty. Downtown Tokyo is our favorite, especially in Nihombashi, Ginza and Marunouchi.

The shopping streets here are amazing and there are several authentic restaurants serving you mouth-watering foods. If you are a fan of big portion sizes, you could be disappointed in Japan because their sizes are small. So, if you are planning a hearty meal, make sure that you order a little more than usual. The Tokyo International Forum is another amazing place that will mesmerize you to the core. However, we like to wander around Akihabar- the place where you get manga stores and tons of electronic goodies at one place. If it has anything to do with Japanese comics or anime, it will definitely be here.

The National Art Center has created an Art Triangle at Roppongo where you will find three beautiful and awe-inspiring museums, the other two being the Mori Art Museum and The Suntory Museum of Art. Don’t forget to go to Akasaka as well. Here you will find a historic shrine called Hie-jinja. Of course, the Tokyo Tower remains in every tourist’s bucket list that is also located in the center of the city.

There is one or the other festivity going on in the city every day. You will meet people of several nationalities in the bars here. Talking with the locals, expats and fellow tourists is a completely unique experience. We have often bought electronics and several eerie products from here.

Japan is a place that will never fail to surprise you. Be it their lush greenery, the mind-blowing beaches or the cosmopolitan cities, there is something about Japan that takes your breath away, the moment you set foot in this place.

Have you been to Japan before, which are your favorite destinations here? Let us know in the comments below.

Our Favorite Destinations in Mexico

January 3rd, 2018 by Dave Leave a Comment

We have travelled extensively around the world but we didn’t find a place as full of life as Mexico. Be it the spicy cuisine or the colorful people, Mexico is one place where you could get lost with ease and like it too. The vibe of this country is amazing and we found the people very hospitable and welcoming too. If we could shift to a new country, we will definitely choose to live here.

We have been to a dozen places in the country and here we count down our absolute favorites.

Teotihuacán

This beautiful destination houses some exquisite pyramids. Once the biggest city in ancient Mexico, it was a part of one of the biggest pre-Hispanic empires here. It is a small offshoot of the Valle de Mexico and is famous for the Avenue of the Dead. Pyramids can be found in La Ciudadela where the supreme ruler of the city is believed to have lived. Don’t forget to check out the fantastic serpent carvings at Templo de Quetzalcóatl.

Our favorite, as of many other tourists, is the Pirámide del Sol is 70 meters high and has 248 steps. The Pirámide de la Luna, Jaguar Palace, Quetzal Butterfly and the Temple of the Plumed Conch Shell are other spaces in this compound that you would love to see. A mural is very famous here, which is both extravagant and awe-inspiring. It is located in the Paradise of Tláloc in the Palacio de Tepantitla.

Tulum

We love this place because it carefully nestled from the east coast crowd and provides you luxury vacation experiences. Though the spot is becoming popular among luxury travelers, it is still not a hotspot, which makes it an even more enduring destination for visit. The little place is located right around some Mayan ruins, which are in perfect condition to date.

Apart from enjoying the wonderful experiences here, you will also love to see the bioreserves and several cenotes. These underground water-filled caverns are awe-inspiringly beautiful. The place remains quiet and quaint, even during the spring break.

Mexico City

This place is uniquely beautiful. It is the cultural capital of the country and lets you dab into the civilization, heritage and culture that Mexico boasts of. It is one of the largest cities in the world and introduces you to a multi-cultural experience that you won’t find even in the most cosmopolitan UK cities.

The Federal District in the area is full of gems in historic and cultural references. The city was founded in the year 1325 and was then called Tenochtitlan. The Spanish later called it Mexico. The 500-year old city has lots of pre-colonial and colonial history. You can get the best of Mexican arts, food and lifestyle here. The fiestas, restaurants and the various performance arts scene is thriving here. So, if you like to have fun without spending a fortune, this is the place for you.

These were our favorite destinations from the beautiful American country. Which ones do you like the most? Let us know in the comments and share your Mexican travel experiences with us.

Leave Your Heart in The Middle of a Desert in Morocco

July 25th, 2017 by Dave 1 Comment

Do you fancy travelling to a desert that provides you the most colorful views you have ever seen? Plan a trip to Morocco, the most beautiful and most heartwarming place in Africa. Here are some of the most amazing things that you could do while in Morocco.

Go to Marrakesh

Everyone who comes to Morocco spends some time in Marrakesh, not because it is a popular destination but because it has a lot to offer. If you only have one weekend to spare in the desert, Marrakesh should be the place where you should go. The Djemaa el-Fina is one of the most happening places in the city. Here, you will find several tattoo artists, chefs, musicians and street performers as well.

The exotic arts and food of the place will definitely mesmerize you. It is a visually enchanting experience that you will love to experience again and again. You can enjoy the charm of the old city and when you are tired, you can always come back to the lap of the international city.

Go camping in the Sahara

The Moroccan side of the Sahara is beautiful with its several dunes and a vast emptiness that cannot be found anywhere else. The vastness of this space is what makes it so captivating. You can go camping here in the desert. The camps are simple but you get an eyeful of the Moroccan sky laden with glimmering stars millions of miles away in another galaxy. There is no light or noise pollution to block your experience of the desert. Sleeping on a starlit night like this could be difficult. After all, you would want to soak in the moonlight while it lasts.

Chefchaouen

Located in the middle of Rif Mountains, Chefchaouen is a place that offers a relaxed, calming experience to the travelers. The place is as vibrant as the streets of Marrakesh but offers you a very laidback atmosphere. The sky is at its most beautiful blue and the mountains that you see behind are picture perfect. You can enjoy some coffee or tea in the local restaurants or buy souvenirs too.

Fez

The city is old and it provides you the most authentic Moroccan experience too. It has very narrow streets that are crammed full of several vendors selling spices, aromatic herbs, perfumes and handicrafts. The streets always remain crowded and there are several mosques and craft shops lining this region. Don’t expect to find an American style coffee shop nearby. This is a place where you get to see the nation’s true self in its full glory and it could easily overwhelm your senses.

While you are in Morocco, don’t forget to take a bath in the hammam. The magnificently decorate hammam public baths are an experience to remember.

These were some exotic Moroccan experiences that you will love to relive throughout your life. Enjoy the deliciously different food that the cities have to offer. Don’t forget to pack spices and souvenirs on your way back home.

Australia’s Wild Wildlife and Where to find it

June 4th, 2017 by Dave Leave a Comment

The island nation of Australia has risen to fame on the internet after pictures of several deadly and poisonous (often super-sized) animals were shared on the internet. While it is true that it is filled with many dangerous and venomous animals, Australian wildlife has more to offer to the tourists. As it remains separated from the rest of the world, some animals found here are more unique.

Here are some places where you will find the Australian animals and have a remarkable and memorable encounter with them.

The Great Barrier Reef

You can’t talk about Australia without mentioning the Great Barrier Reef. The large coral reef presents the most colorful and vibrant underwater colonies to the visitors. It is a great place for diving and finding the hidden marine life of the island. If you don’t want to dive, you can enjoy a boat trip to this region. Several scattered islands carry a small piece of the reef within their bounds and each one presents a unique form of life. You will see many small and large colorful fish here. Box jellyfish, sharks, stonefish and sea snakes are found here. If you are near the estuaries, stay aware of the crocodiles as well. All these could be very threatening.

Kangaroo Island

This place was inhabited by aborigines for thousands of years but was cut off from the mainland and remained uninhabited by humans for at least 2,000 years. Then settlers started moving in and it became a campsite for several sealers and whalers. The Kangaroo island is located a few miles away from the mainland is a perfect treat for those who want to watch Australian fauna in their natural habitat. You will find kangaroos here in plenty.

There are koalas and wallabies as well. The most interesting thing about the island is the presence of penguins. Echidnas are also very common here but you will have a hard time finding them. Platypus, fur seals and sea lions- all animals that you associate with Australia can be seen here.

Kakadu National Park

A UNESCO World Heritage Site, this national park is the home to Jim Jim Falls, the most mesmerizing waterfall in the country. You will even find some precious aboriginal rock art sites here. However, it is the fauna of the region that will excite you the most. A total of 68 mammals, 26 frogs, 120 reptiles, 300 fish and 10,000 species of insects live here. Not only this, 290 bird species can also be found here, some of them even endangered.

You will find estuarine crocodiles living on the banks of the rivers in this region. These crocodiles enjoy the confluence of saltwater and freshwater in the estuaries and can be seen relaxing near the rivers during the day. You will also find the Jesus bird Jabiru here along with herons, yellow water billabong and ospreys.

You will also see feral horses, water buffalos, wallabies etc. in this park.

Which places in Australia do you like the most for wildlife watching? Let us know in the comments below.

The Must Have Travel Gear for Every Traveler

April 14th, 2017 by Dave Leave a Comment

While travelling around the world, we have realized that going around the world is not an easy affair. Even though it sounds very romantic, traveling without gear could soon turn your dream vacation into a nightmare. Learn more our experience and make sure that you add these awesome travel gear and supplies to your bag before leaving for your vacation.

A backpack

No traveler can survive without a backpack and you need it too. We would suggest you buy two of them. A large 38L capacity backpack could help you while transporting to and from different locations, especially when you are travelling for a longer time. Also carry a smaller 22L capacity backpack for traveling during the day. You can easily place all your belongings here, buy stuff and more while enjoying the place you travel to.

Sandals

Sandals are a traveler’s best friends. They are very versatile and can be used almost anywhere. Whether you are climbing a small hill or moving around town, going to the beach or to shopping streets of the city- these sandals will also provide you comfort. The good news is that these sandals don’t hurt your feet and you can wear them in almost all weather, except the freezing cold ones.

Sleeping bag

If you are an adventure traveler, you should always carry a sleeping bag along. This will help you if you are going camping or when you are on a multi-day hiking trip. Sleeping bags can conveniently be folded and carried around and they make for very versatile accessories as well, especially when you are going to rougher regions.

Sportswear

If you’re an active person, it’s important not to let your healthy lifestyle slip just because you’re travelling. The Get Bra Advice team advise that you’re far more likely to continue with your exercise regime if you’re actually equipped to do so properly! Be sure to pack any clothing you might need to jump on the treadmill and get yourself a short term gym pass!

Hard drive

You wont always find an internet connection where you are travelling. Not all places have coffee shops with free WIFI. However, travelers click several pictures and make videos that need to be saved. Carrying a hard drive will be a good idea. Get yourself a sturdy variety with an equally good hard drive cover so that it remains secure. Now you can click as many pictures as you want and save all your memories with ease.

Travel adapter and power strip

Electric switches in different countries work differently. Therefore, it would be better to get a travel adapter to avoid any hassles. The last thing you would want is a phone that can’t be charged. Also ensure that you carry a power strip along with you. It could help you charge multiple devices at once. Hotel rooms all over the world are notorious for not having enough charging spots. Carrying a power strip, therefore, is a good idea.

Swiss knife

The old faithful swiss knife is the most versatile travel accessory that you need apart from toiletries. It can help you in multiple situations for cutting, piercing and even save your life. We never forget to carry quality swiss knives with us.

Depending on the kind of travel experience you want to have, the travel gear requirements will change. However, the list above will be applicable to almost all travelers.
